Find a warm coat that isn't bulky and shapeless. Look for wool, fur or quilted nylon. Make sure the tailoring is good. It should cut close to the chest and flare out at the hips just enough to move. Look for classic lines and flirty details like a little pleating or a rounded collar. A good coat can take you not only through this winter, but through winters for years to come. It's a financial investment.
Look for a warm hat in a fabric that is soft and luxurious, or with a touch of glitter. Watch out for overly chunky knits—too chunky and it looks like it was made in fifth grade. Just chunky enough, and it looks bohemian and fresh. Hats can be very chic and hip. Embrace the whimsy of your hat. Fluff out your hair beneath it.
Look for a matching scarf in a similar fabric as the hat. You want something warm, but also bright and feminine to balance out the classic lines of your coat.
Find fabulous boots. You can search your whole life for the right pair of boots; once you find them, buy several. Look for a "riding inspired" style with a buckle or other small metallic detailing and (unless you are a Jimmy Choo devotee) a low heel.
Adjust your makeup. The easiest way to freshen your look for winter is to trade in your bronzer for bright pink blush. Use it sparingly. When you brush a slight touch of color onto your cheeks, you'll look fresh-from-the-cold radiant. Keep the rest of your makeup classic (think black eyeliner and red lips), and you'll always look ready to meet under mistletoe.
Last but not the list, stay warm, covered and yet sexy and hawt!
Am out!
